Three members of the Hobart College baseball team have been named to the 2026 Academic All-District Division III Baseball Team by College Sports Communicators.
Senior second baseman Christian Petry, senior designated hitter Will Jones, and senior pitcher Aaron Forgues earned the honor, which recognizes student-athletes for excellence both in the classroom and on the field.
To qualify, student-athletes must be at least sophomores academically and athletically, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher, and meet specific participation requirements during the season.
Petry, an economics graduate and member of Hobart’s Druid honor society, was named to the Liberty League All-Academic Team three times and earned Academic All-District recognition for the second time. A four-year starter, he appeared in 145 consecutive games, batting .286 with 144 career hits, 66 RBIs, and 133 runs scored. He holds program records for at-bats, hit-by-pitches, and assists. This season, Petry earned second-team All-Liberty League honors after hitting .292 with 29 RBIs, 49 runs scored, and 15 stolen bases.
Jones, a political science graduate and member of the Pi Sigma Alpha national honor society, was a three-time Liberty League All-Academic selection. Over his career, he hit .286 with 111 hits, 38 RBIs, and 23 runs scored. This season, he batted .275 with 22 RBIs and 23 runs, highlighted by a 4-for-4 performance that included a home run against Rochester.
Forgues graduated with a degree in writing and rhetoric and was also a three-time Liberty League All-Academic Team selection. The right-hander appeared in 32 games over three seasons, compiling a 3-6 record with 103 strikeouts in 99 2/3 innings. He struck out a career-high 36 batters this season and finished his collegiate career by throwing six scoreless innings against nationally ranked Salisbury in the NCAA Regionals.
Hobart completed a record-setting 2026 season with a 32-15 record, establishing program marks for wins, runs, hits, doubles, and several other categories. The Statesmen also made just their second NCAA Tournament appearance and first since 1992, earning the program’s first-ever victories over a nationally ranked opponent with two wins over Mount Union at the Salisbury Regional.
