Keuka Men’s Soccer Drops Tough 1-0 Decision to Geneseo

The Keuka College Men’s Soccer team was defeated 1-0 by SUNY Geneseo in an Empire 8 Conference match on Wednesday evening at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex.

Cory Cangemi (Marcellus, N.Y. / Marcellus) recorded six saves in goal for the Wolves, and junior forward Brenden Moquin (Palmyra, N.Y. / Palmyra-Macedon) posted a pair of shots on goal in the contest.

Keuka College’s defense and goalkeeper Cory Cangemi played a pivotal role in keeping the Wolves in the match, particularly in the second half when SUNY Geneseo increased their offensive pressure. The Wolves, led by Cangemi’s six saves, kept the match scoreless through the first 45 minutes despite several attacks from Geneseo.

The breakthrough came in the 65th minute when SUNY Geneseo scored following a corner kick, putting the visitors ahead 1-0. Despite being outshot 21-3 in the contest, the Wolves made a push late in the game, with Brenden Moquin registering two shots on goal. However, Keuka was unable to find the equalizer as Geneseo held on for the 1-0 win.

Up Next for Keuka College: The Green and Gold will continue with conference play with another home game on Saturday afternoon. The Wolves will take on Hartwick College with a 3 p.m. kick-off.
