A former Wyoming County Corrections Officer is headed to prison after being convicted of distribution of child pornography.

According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Craig R. Gestring, who handled the case, in October 2021, James Sutton, of Depew, used his cell phone to upload 22 video files containing child pornography, via the internet, to the social media platform Kik. The videos included prepubescent minors under the age of 12 years old, and depictions of violence.

The 40-year-old was sentenced on Friday by U.S. District Judge Lawrence Vilardo to serve 100 months in prison and 30 years supervised released.

The sentencing is the result of an investigation by the New York State Police, under the direction of Major Amie Feroleto, the Federal Bureau of Investigation Child Exploitation Human Trafficking Task Force, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Matthew Miraglia, and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
