Two State Troopers Injured After Drunk Driver Strikes Troop Car

Two heavily damaged cars, a dark sedan and a light SUV, after a nighttime collision with deployed airbags and an ambulance in background.
A dark sedan and a state trooper SUV are heavily damaged after a nighttime collision, with emergency lights visible in the background.

Earlier this week in Troop F, a New York State Police Troop car was rear-ended by a drunk driver in the town of Lloyd, while conducting a traffic stop. The collision caused the patrol car to hit the vehicle they had stopped, leaving two civilians and two troopers with minor injuries.  All four people injured are expected to make full recoveries.

State Police say this incident is a stark reminder of the dangers of impaired driving not only for those directly involved but for first responders as well.

“Every time you get behind the wheel impaired, you’re putting lives at risk.”

Troop F covers Greene, Orange, Rockland, Sullivan, and Ulster counties.
