Troopers Investigating Fatal Camillus Car Crash

State Police are investigating a Wednesday car crash in Camillus that left a 74-year-old woman dead.

According to a preliminary investigation, 74-year-old Darlene Cushman of Syracuse was traveling east on West Genesee St around 11:10a in a 2025 Chevy Trax when she crossed the center line and sideswiped a 2014 Toyota Sienna operated by 38-year-old Gabriel Cortesnieves of Syracuse. Cushman then continued into the westbound lane and crashed into the 2020 BMV 330 Series, driven by 16-year-old Adam Mere, also of Syracuse.

Cushman was pronounced dead at the scene. Mere, his passenger, 15-year-old Leanna Mere of Syracuse, Cortesnieves, and his passenger, 38-year-old Itchaneria Estradacruz of Fulton, were all taken to Upstate University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries

The investigation is ongoing.
