Syracuse Police Officer Saves Six from Burning Building

A Syracuse Police Officer saved six people from a burning building Friday morning.

According to the Department, Officer Joseph Hilliker was the first person on scene at a building fire in the 100 block of Coykendall Avenue around 10:00a.

A person leaving the building notified Hilliker six people were still in an upstairs apartment. The officer then ran inside and up the stairs to the apartment and banged on the door.

Hilliker was able to evacuate them.

Within minutes, the Syracuse Fire Department was on hand to put out the fire.
