State Trooper Injured in Thruway Crash During Traffic Stop

A New York State Trooper was injured Friday morning after being struck by a vehicle during a traffic stop on I-87 in Bethlehem.

State Police say the crash happened around 8:45 a.m. in the northbound lanes of the Thruway. The Trooper was inside their patrol vehicle when it was hit by another northbound driver.

The Trooper was taken to Albany Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the stopped vehicle and the driver who struck the patrol car were not injured.

As of the latest update, the northbound right lane remains closed while the investigation continues.
