State Trooper Injured in Long Island Parkway Collision

A New York State Police patrol car is seen on the shoulder of a Long Island parkway after a collision that injured a state trooper.

A New York State Trooper was injured when his patrol vehicle was struck on the Southern State Parkway in the town of Hempstead.

The Trooper had just completed a traffic stop Saturday afternoon and was getting into the patrol vehicle when a passing motorist struck it. The unidentified Trooper was transported to Nassau University Medical Center for a complaint of pain. His injuries do not appear to be serious.

State Police did not release the name of the driver who struck the Trooper or if any charges were filed.
