A Southern Tier mother and her 18-year-old son were returning from college orientation when they were tragically killed in an accident on Interstate 86 in Chemung County.

18-year-old Colin Ferrell, of Endicott, was driving east in the town of Chemung at around 5 last Friday afternoon when a westbound Nissan Maxima crossed over the grass median and struck Ferrell’s Acura head-on. Colin Ferrell, his mom, Tiffany Ferrell, and the other driver, 36-year-old Steven Mallory, of Horseheads, were all pronounced dead at the scene.

A GoFundMe page has been set up for the Ferrell family. State Police are still investigating the accident.
