Smoke from a Distance Fire Covers The Finger Lakes

A street scene with a bus and car, a prominent tower, and trees obscured by thick, orange-brown smoke.
Smoke from distant wildfires creates a hazy, orange sky over a street in the Finger Lakes region, with a bus, car, and a prominent tower visible.

Canadian wildfires continue to spew thick smoke that blankets the Finger Lakes.

Some of that smoke has made it down to the surface, obscuring our view, reducing air quality, changing the color of the sun, and is strong enough to smell.

It’s going to be worse today.

If you have respiratory conditions, as well as children and the elderly should do what you can to limit or eliminate time spent outdoors as the air quality remains at unhealthy levels.
