Slight Changes Reported in NY’s Fall Foliage

Colorful fall foliage continues to emerge across New York State, with the most significant changes once again expected in the Adirondacks and Catskills. This is according to the field reports from volunteer observers for the Empire State Development Division of Tourism’s I LOVE NY program.

Locations with the most significant foliage change this weekend will include Old Forge, Lake Pleasant, Newcomb, Mt. Arab, Tupper Lake, and Wanakena (Adirondacks); and Delhi, Colchester, and Liberty (Catskills).

In Cayuga County:

  • 15% change in Moravia and Locke with muted oranges and reds.
  • 10% in Auburn with muted to average shades of purple, and some yellow leaves.

In Chemung County:

  • More than 10% change in Elmira with mostly orange leaves.

In Cortland County:

  • 10% change in Cortland with muted reds and oranges.

In Livingston County:

  • 10% change in Geneseo with a mix of fall colors.

In Monroe County:

  • Less than 10% change in Rochester with touches of light-green to yellow mustard, and a few hints of orange.

In Onondaga County:

  • Less than 10% change at Beaver Lake Nature Center in Baldwinsville with shades of yellow and red.

In Ontario County:

  • 20% change in Canandaigua with bright touches of fall colors.
  • No significant change expected in Farmington.

In Schuyler County:

  • 10% change in Watkins Glen with muted yellow and orange.

In Seneca County:

  • 15% change in Waterloo with touches of red and gold leaves.
  • 5% in Seneca Falls with a mix of fall colors beginning to emerge from the predominantly green backdrop.

In Steuben County:

  • 10% in Bath, Corning, Hammondsport, and Hornell with muted yellow and orange leaves.

In Tioga County:

  • 20% foliage change in Owego with orange, yellow, and brown leaves.

In Tompkins County:

  • 15% in Ithaca and Trumansburg with pops of yellow and orange.

In Wayne County:

  • Up to 10% change in Lyons with some scattered pockets of orange and yellow.

In Yates County:

  • 10% in Penn Yan with a mix of fall colors.
