Your blood type might be needed right now.

The Red Cross is in particular need of Type O Blood.

Meg Rossman with the Red Cross says that, while donations of all blood types are always needed, as we head into the summer months where there tends to be an uptick in trauma situations, emergency personnel will reach for Type O blood when there isn’t time to determine a patient’s blood type.

Type O blood is considered the universal donor as it can be accepted by all other blood types.

A list of blood drives in your area can be found on the Red Cross’ website.
