An Amish buggy was struck by a Dodge Ram 1400 pickup truck in Oneida County Friday. State Police say it happened on State Route 26 in the town of Ava shortly before 2 p.m.

A preliminary investigation revealed a 2014 RAM 1400 driven by 33-year-old Alexander Pfendler of Constableville was traveling south on State Route 26, when it struck the rear of an Amish buggy traveling in the same direction, ejecting a 14-year-old female, and 16-year-old male.

The male operator of the buggy was transported from the scene to Upstate Hospital with serious injuries. The female passenger was taken to Wynn Hospital where she was treated and released. Pfendler was not injured.
