If you smoke or vape and plan to attend the state fair this year, you should know that designated smoking areas have changed.

Fairgoers will only be allowed to smoke 50 feet outside of five pedestrian gates – 3, 4, 8, 10, and 11A. The fair says its policy is consistent with visitor experiences at other large, outside public spaced, such as the state’s public parks and beaches.

Last year vaping and smoking, both tobacco and marijuana, were allowed at designated enclosures within the grounds.

The Great New York State Fair runs from August 23 to September 4.
