If you live or work in Onondaga County, you’ll want to hear about a new phone scam.

Scammers are calling county residents claiming to be from the Sheriff’s Office and stating they’ll be arrested for criminal contempt unless they pay a fee.

The real sheriff’s office is reminding the public that such calls are bogus and you should never give out bank or credit card info over the phone.
