HEAP applications are now open, Governor Kathy Hochul announced Monday.

New Yorkers can now apply for heating and energy assistance through the program, which offers up to $996 per household. Emergency benefits for those at risk of losing heat start January 2. Many households automatically receive payments if enrolled in other programs.

Applications are accepted online, by mail, or in person.
