Gas Prices Slightly Down to Begin the Work Week

AAA of Western and Central New York reported Monday the New York State average is $3.17, down one cent from last Monday. A year ago, the New York State average was $3.31. The national average price for a gallon of gasoline is $3.14, down two cents from last Monday.

As gasoline demand decreased this past week, most drivers saw few changes at the pump and the national average for a gallon of gas remained steady at $3.16. According to the latest data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), demand decreased from 8.57 million b/d last week to 8.23. Meanwhile, total domestic gasoline stocks dropped from 248.1 million barrels to 247.9, and gasoline production saw little change last week, averaging 9.2 million barrels daily. Crude oil prices remain stable, ranging from $70 to $74 per barrel this morning.

For drivers who use diesel fuel, the national average price for diesel is $3.67, no change from last Monday. The New York average is $3.97, no change from last Monday.
