Firefighters Rescue Hang Glider From Southern Tier Tree

A person was injured in a hang gliding accident in Chemung County Thursday night.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the operator was found approximately 30 feet in the air in a tree on State Route 352, between Sing Sing Road Creek and Smith Home farms.  The identity of the operator and their condition have not been released.

Members of the Golden Glow, Big Flats, and Horseheads Fire Departments assisted in getting the person out of the tree.
