An early morning fire in Cortland County claimed the life of a 71-year-old man.
State Police were dispatched by the Cortland County 911 Center to a structure fire on State Route 11 in the town of Marathon at around 12:30 Monday morning. When Troopers arrived, the home was fully engulfed, and members of the Marathon Fire Department and several surrounding fire departments were on the scene.
The cause remains under investigation.
