Former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is now facing a federal criminal investigation tied to his handling of COVID-19 in nursing homes.

The Justice Department has launched a criminal probe into Cuomo after House Republicans accused him of lying about nursing home deaths during the pandemic. A directive in 2020 issued by the Governor instructed nursing homes to admit recovering COVID-positive patients from hospitals, a move that resulted in increased deaths in nursing homes.

Cuomo denies wrongdoing and calls it election interference as he is now running for New York City mayor.

The U-S Attorney’s office in Washington is investigating.
