A tragic incident occurred on Thursday in Tioga County, New York, where a dog fatally attacked its owner and later mauled another person walking their dog.

Darnelle Greeno, a 52-year-old woman from Apalachin, was found dead on Pleasant View Drive after being attacked by her own dog, the Tioga County Sheriff’s Office reported. The dog then turned on a man walking his dog nearby. The man was able to defend himself and ultimately killed the attacking dog in the process.

Authorities discovered Greeno with multiple bite wounds on her body, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Sheriff’s Office has assured the public there is no ongoing threat. However, they have not provided details on the man’s potential injuries or the breed of the dog involved.
