All of New York is under high fire danger conditions.

According to the State DEC, this is due to dry and windy conditions, especially in eastern portions of the state. DEC officials remind residents that small fire can spread easily and turn into uncontrolled wildfires. They advise against burning, but if you do, keep your fire small and make sure it’s contained in a fire pit. All fires must be attended to until out cold.

The DEC also reminds people that burning garbage or leaves is prohibited year-round in New York State.
