150 National Guard Members Heading to NYC for Asylum Seeker Crisis

Additional National Guard personnel are being deployed to help with the state’s asylum seeker crisis.

Governor Hochul made the announcement on Monday

“New York National Guard will deploy an additional 150 members to support the asylum seeker mission. That brings our total to 2200 National Guard members supporting the overall mission. and what this will allow us to do – 250 National Guard members will focus solely on case management.”

Those 150 new guard members are heading to New York City to help provide logistical and operational support to asylum seekers there.
