A Wolcott man has been arrested following a child sexual abuse investigation conducted by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s deputies say 43-year-old Jason Edwards was charged with first-degree sexual abuse after a Wayne County Grand Jury issued an indictment warrant connected to an investigation that began in 2023.
According to investigators, Edwards is accused of subjecting a child under the age of 11 to unwanted sexual contact while the child was asleep during the early morning hours.
Edwards was taken into custody and transported to Wayne County Court for arraignment. He is scheduled to appear in court again at a later date.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
