The Glen Theater in Watkins Glen, which is closing for the summer, is actively seeking partners to help secure its future.

The Glen Theater in Watkins Glen will close for the summer season as organizers look to reinvent the historic venue as a broader performing arts and community space.

In a social media announcement, theater officials said the closure is intended to serve as a pause rather than a permanent goodbye, with plans to explore new opportunities for live entertainment, arts programming, education, and community events. They now hope to expand the venue’s role beyond film screenings.

The theater is seeking partnerships with performing arts organizations, nonprofit groups, creative teams, and community organizations interested in helping relaunch the venue this fall with a new lineup of programming.

Possible future offerings mentioned in the announcement include live theater productions, music performances, comedy nights, children’s programming, dance classes, workshops, youth arts activities, film festivals, and nonprofit fundraising events.

Organizers said their goal is to create a long-term community hub centered on creativity, entertainment, and public engagement.

The theater also thanked community members for their support through ticket purchases, donations, volunteering, rentals, and attendance over the years.

Organizations interested in partnering with The Glen Theater are encouraged to contact organizers by email at [email protected].
