Seneca County Sheriff’s Office Mourns Roger Ward

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office is mourning the loss of retired Jail Sergeant Roger Ward, who passed away after nearly four decades of service to the community.

In a statement shared on social media, the Sheriff’s Office said Ward retired in October 2024 following 38 years of service with the department.

Officials described Ward as a respected leader within the Correctional Division who was known for the support, guidance, and leadership he provided to fellow employees throughout his career.

During his time with the Sheriff’s Office, Ward served in several roles, including Jail Administrator, Union President, and member of the department’s Dive Team. The Sheriff’s Office said he also held numerous other assignments over the course of his career.

Before joining the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office, Ward served in the United States Army.

“The members of the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office are deeply saddened by the passing of retired Jail Sergeant Roger O. Ward,” the department said in its statement.

The Sheriff’s Office extended condolences to Ward’s family, friends, and loved ones.
