School budget votes and school board elections were held across the region on Tuesday. We will post results as they are received below:
The Geneva City School District’s proposed budget passed with 63.9% voter approval. Steve Budgar won a five-year term on the school board. The proposed school bus purchase was also approved, with 64.9% in favor, as was the Capital Reserve Fund, with 73.1% in favor. The Geneva Public Library budget was approved, with 67.8% in favor. Donald Cass and Judith McKinney, who ran uncontested, were elected to five-year terms as library trustees.
Voters in the Romulus Central School District approved the district’s $15,079,409 budget for the upcoming school year by a vote of 103 to 35. Voters also approved a proposition authorizing the district to establish a capital reserve fund for the purchase of buses in an amount not to exceed $270,000. The proposition, which includes the purchase of one 72-passenger bus and one seven-passenger van, passed by a vote of 116 to 22. A third proposition approving the Edith B. Ford Memorial Library levy in the amount of $31,688 also passed, receiving 97 yes votes and 42 no votes. In the race for two seats on the Board of Education, Erik Karlsen received 118 votes and Thomas Wilson received 109 votes. Both were elected to three-year terms.
