No Charges Filed in Manlius Road Rage Shooting Case

The Town of Manlius Police Department says no criminal charges will be filed following a March incident involving a reported gunshot after a series of vehicle crashes in the Town of Manlius.

Police said officers responded around 2:21 p.m. on March 29 to the 100 block of Richmond Road West for a reported shots fired incident.

According to investigators, the incident stemmed from a two-vehicle crash that had occurred earlier on Manlius Center Road at Clemons Road involving the same parties. Police said the individuals later drove to Richmond Road West, where a second collision occurred involving a pedestrian.

Authorities said a dispute then broke out at the scene, during which one person produced a handgun and fired a shot that is believed to have struck a vehicle. No injuries were reported from the gunfire.

Police recovered the handgun at the scene and identified all parties involved.

Following consultation with the Onondaga County District Attorney’s Office, the case was presented to a grand jury, which declined to issue criminal charges against anyone involved in the shooting incident.

However, police said citations were issued in connection with the initial crash on Manlius Center Road.

Casey Carberry, 56, of Chittenango, was charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, following too closely, and unlicensed operation.

Wendy Carberry, 56, of Chittenango, was charged with facilitating aggravated unlicensed operation.
