Construction work is now underway as part of the City of Geneva’s Castle Street Capital Improvements Project.
Villager Construction has begun full-depth roadway reconstruction on Castle Street between Pulteney Street and Oak Street, along with curb installation between Pulteney Street and Main Street. Castle Street is temporarily closed in the construction area.
During the work, eastbound and westbound traffic on Castle Street is closed between Main Street and Oak Street during the workday. Northbound and southbound traffic on Pulteney Street is also closed between Elmwood Avenue and Castle Street.
Dorchester Avenue remains open to local traffic only, although temporary delays and closures are possible. Parking may also be limited overnight and during construction hours.
City officials said construction is expected to continue for several weeks, although schedules could change due to weather or other unforeseen conditions. Detour routes are posted in the area.
Residents and commuters should expect delays and temporary traffic pattern changes. Work zones are restricted to local traffic and emergency vehicles only.
Cyclists are being urged to use caution because of rough road conditions and follow posted detours. Pedestrians are encouraged to use sidewalks and crosswalks whenever available and remain clear of construction vehicles and equipment.
The City of Geneva said it appreciates the public’s patience during the project. Questions can be directed to the DPW Engineering Department at 315-789-3101 or [email protected].
