The New York State Public Service Commission (PSC) has scheduled a series of in-person and virtual public hearings to gather input from residents on proposed rate hikes by Rochester Gas & Electric (RG&E) and New York State Electric & Gas (NYSEG).

The companies are seeking revenue increases that would raise monthly bills for customers beginning April 30, 2027. Under the proposals:

  • RG&E bills would increase by about $33.01 for electric service and $18.87 for gas service.
  • NYSEG bills would increase by about $33.12 for electric service and $33.57 for gas service.

The proposals also call for closing several walk-in customer service offices, including:

  • NYSEG offices: 73 Wright Circle in Auburn and 1387 Dryden Road in Ithaca.
  • RG&E offices: 14 State Street in Sodus and 180 South Clinton Avenue in Rochester.
