Firefighters from the Bellona Volunteer Fire Company responded to a house fire Wednesday afternoon that prompted a second alarm response and drew assistance from multiple agencies across Yates County and the surrounding area.
According to Bellona Fire, crews were dispatched around 3:45 p.m. along with the Benton Fire Department and Penn Yan Ambulance to a reported house fire on Reddy Road.
Officials said a second alarm was immediately requested after arriving crews confirmed a working structure fire at the scene.
Firefighters conducted what the department described as an aggressive interior attack, leading to a quick knockdown of the flames.

Additional agencies assisting at the scene included West Lake Road Fire Department, Penn Yan Fire Department, Yates County Office of Emergency Services, Yates County Fire Investigation Team, Yates County Sheriff’s Office, Dresden Fire Department, Hall Fire Department, Stanley Fire Department, White Springs Fire Department, and Penn Yan Ambulance.
Units remained on scene for several hours before returning to service around 6:30 p.m.
No information about injuries or the cause of the fire was immediately released.
