An Air Quality Health Advisory has been extended through Sunday for parts of New York State due to elevated ozone levels.
State officials said the advisory remains in effect Monday, May 18, from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. for the New York City Metro region.
The pollutant of concern is ozone, which can contribute to breathing problems and other health issues, especially for children, older adults, and people with asthma or other respiratory conditions.
Officials recommend limiting strenuous outdoor activity during the advisory period, particularly during the afternoon and evening hours when ozone levels are typically highest.
