Geneva Salvation Army youth and leaders celebrate their regional honors with trophies and pom-poms on stage at a talent event.

Young performers from the Geneva Salvation Army earned top honors during their first appearance at a regional music and arts competition held last weekend on Seneca Lake.

The group participated in the Salvation Army’s Divisional Music & Arts competition, known as “Star Search,” at Long Point Camp, where youth from Salvation Army churches and community programs across the region showcased their talents.

Geneva participants placed in several categories, earning third place in Timbrels Brigade A and Singing Company, along with a second-place finish in Vocal Solo Level 4.

The recognition comes less than a year after the Geneva Salvation Army launched its free Music and Arts Programs for the community in September 2025. The program offers instruction in music, vocals, and the arts with a focus on creativity, teamwork, confidence, and personal growth.

Captain Sulca of the Geneva Salvation Army said the organization is proud of the students and the work they put into preparing for the competition.

“This experience showed our young people that they are part of something much bigger, and their dedication and hard work truly paid off,” Sulca said.

The Salvation Army also thanked volunteers, families, and donors who help support the program and create opportunities for local children.

The Geneva Salvation Army said it plans to continue expanding accessible youth programming centered on music, arts, mentorship, and faith-based community engagement.
