Ex-Geneva Police Officer Pleads Guilty to Drug Charge

A former Geneva Police Department officer indicted in connection with a drug sales investigation has pleaded guilty.

Special prosecutor and Wayne County District Attorney Christine Callanan told 13WHAM on Friday that Nathan Jacon pleaded guilty to criminal possession of a controlled substance in the case tied to former Geneva police officer Michael Tapscott.

Jacon resigned from the Geneva Police Department on Aug. 15 and was arraigned Oct. 29 on an indictment warrant, according to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said the investigation began after Tapscott allegedly sold a generic form of Adderall requiring a prescription to an individual at a used car dealership on Route 14 north of Geneva on April 21, 2025.

Investigators later announced that Tapscott, Felice, and William McGowan had been indicted by an Ontario County grand jury. Ontario County Sheriff David Cirencione previously said the investigation found Tapscott “was regularly soliciting other members of the police department and members of the community to purchase or sell controlled substances while he was both on and off duty.”

Jacon was not named in the original indictment, but authorities later announced he had been charged after evidence was presented to a grand jury earlier that month.

Callanan said Jacon was sentenced to a conditional discharge that required him to sign decertification forms, preventing him from serving as a police officer in New York State.

“This case involved conduct that carried consequences far beyond the criminal charge itself,” Callanan said in a statement. “As a result of this plea, the defendant has been decertified and can no longer serve as a police officer in New York. Public trust in law enforcement is essential and when that trust is compromised, accountability must follow.”

Tapscott pleaded guilty Feb. 19 to 40 counts of official misconduct and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
