A former Geneva police officer who admitted to drug-related misconduct has been sentenced in Ontario County Court.
Michael Tapscott, a 13-year veteran of the Geneva Police Department, was sentenced Thursday by Ontario County Court Judge Frederick Reed to 16 weekends in jail and five years of probation.
Authorities said Tapscott sold dextroamphetamine, a prescription form of Adderall, to an individual at a used car dealership on Route 14 north of Geneva in April 2025. He resigned from the department the next month, one day before he was charged with criminal sale of a controlled substance and official misconduct.
Tapscott pleaded guilty in February to 40 counts of official misconduct and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Ontario County Sheriff David Cirencione previously said an investigation found Tapscott regularly solicited members of the police department and community to buy or sell controlled substances while both on and off duty.
Tapscott was one of four people indicted in the broader investigation, which also included Geneva Police Sergeant David Felice, former officer Nathan Jacon, and William McGowan.
Earlier this month, Jacon pleaded guilty.
