First Woman of the Cayuga Wine Trail Dies

The first female winemaker on Cayuga Lake and co-founder of the Cayuga Wine Trail, the first wine trail in the United States, has died.

81- year old Ruth Lucas died last month. Lucas and her family moved from the South Bronx and purchased a 68-acre farm in Interlaken in 1973 and started Lucas Vineyards.

The family asks that those who would like to make a contribution in Ruth’s memory to consider the Parish of Mary Mother of Mercy, PO Box 403 in Interlaken.
