A student at Eastridge High School in Irondequoit will face disciplinary action after school officials say a BB gun and an inoperable taser were found in the student’s backpack Monday morning.

According to the East Irondequoit Central School District, administrators were alerted after a parent contacted the school reporting that their child may have had a BB gun in their backpack from the weekend.

School officials located the student and recovered both the BB gun and the taser from the backpack. The district said the Irondequoit Police Department was immediately notified, and the items were turned over to law enforcement.

District officials said the items were never removed from the backpack before administrators intervened and emphasized there was no threat to students or staff.
