The Cayuga County Tourism Office will hold its second annual Where Tourism Meets Community luncheon on June 17 at Emerson Park. The event will run from 11:00a-2:00p at the Emerson Park Pavilion.

Organizers said the event will connect tourism partners, local businesses, elected officials, community organizations, hospitality professionals, and residents to discuss the role tourism plays in the Cayuga County economy.

Bob Provost, President and CEO of the New York State Tourism Industry Association, will be the featured speaker and will discuss the state’s perspective on how tourism fuels economic growth. Members of the proposed Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Byway’s internal planning team will also speak on the state’s Freedom 2027 initiative, commemorating the 200th anniversary of the state’s end of slavery.

This year’s event will feature a new addition – the tourism office will present its annual themed tourism awards. The America 250 Tourism Impact award will recognize work that helps people connect with the county’s role in the country’s 250th anniversary.

“Tour Cayuga has long advocated for the strength and value of Cayuga County’s tourism industry, and this is our opportunity to share tourism’s story with the people it touches most,” said Tour Cayuga Executive Director Courtney Kasper. “We encourage greater engagement with our agency to reinforce the collaboration necessary to advance the county’s visitor economy and inclusive approach of making tourism more visible and accessible.”

The luncheon is open to the public with advance registration. For more information or to register for the event, call Tour Cayuga at (315) 255-1658, e-mail [email protected], or reserve a ticket via Eventbrite at bit.ly/TC-Summit
