Several Finger Lakes airports are set to receive federal funding for infrastructure improvement projects through the Airport Infrastructure Grant program.
U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand announced Friday that airports in Ontario, Seneca, and Wayne counties will receive a combined amount of more than $335,000 through the Federal Aviation Administration program established under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
Canandaigua Airport was awarded $163,143 for a project to rehabilitate 3,350 feet of Taxiway A pavement and shift Taxiways B and C to meet current safety standards. Officials say the work will help maintain pavement integrity and reduce foreign object debris.
Finger Lakes Regional Airport will receive $138,046 to reconstruct part of the airport’s north apron pavement, which has reached the end of its useful life.
Williamson-Sodus Airport was awarded $33,893 to design a replacement for its aging automated weather observing system.
Gillibrand said the funding will help modernize airport infrastructure and improve safety and efficiency for travelers across New York State.
The grants are part of more than $20.6 million awarded statewide through the Airport Infrastructure Grant program, which supports projects aimed at improving airport safety, sustainability, and passenger experience.
