The Wood Library in Canandaigua, New York, which recently launched a Community Health and Wellness Hub, features inviting outdoor seating on its sunny lawn.

Residents in the Canandaigua area will soon have expanded access to health, wellness, and support services through a new initiative at Wood Library.

The library has announced the launch of The Hub at Wood Library, a community health and wellness hub designed to connect adults and teens with essential health services, social supports, and community resources in an accessible and familiar setting.

Library officials say the program was created to help address barriers that often prevent people from accessing care, including transportation challenges, lack of awareness of available services, and limited accessibility. The goal is to improve the physical, mental, and social well-being of vulnerable individuals by providing direct connections to trusted community organizations and professionals.

Wood Library serves thousands of residents each year, including individuals and families facing housing and food insecurity, physical and mental health concerns, inadequate insurance coverage, and unemployment.

The Hub will offer a variety of free drop-in services, educational outreach opportunities, and wellness events throughout the summer.

Among the services being offered are career assistance sessions with The Arc Ontario on July 14 and August 11 from 2 to 4 p.m., as well as workforce development assistance through Ontario County Workforce Development on July 9 and August 13 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Case management services will be available July 1 and August 5 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., while mental health support sessions are scheduled for July 10 and August 14 from 10 a.m. to noon.

Library officials say The Hub is intended to serve as a welcoming resource where community members can access support, learn about available services, and connect with organizations that can help meet their needs.
