Barilla's Avon, New York, facility, seen here with a railroad crossing, is expanding with a $170 million investment.

Barilla is planning a nearly $170 million expansion of its manufacturing facility in the Town of Avon, a project expected to create more than 90 new jobs in Livingston County.

State Senator Pam Helming and Assemblywoman Andrea Bailey called the expansion a major investment in the Finger Lakes region’s manufacturing and agricultural economy.

Barilla, one of the world’s largest pasta manufacturers, has operated its Avon facility since 2007. Company officials said the first phase of the project will include a $145 million investment to construct a new 52,000-square-foot building, add production lines, and build a new warehouse for storage and distribution.

A second phase of development will bring the total investment to nearly $170 million. Phase One is expected to be completed by March 2028.

The Avon facility originally opened with a $75 million investment and created approximately 145 jobs. Officials said the latest expansion further strengthens Livingston County’s role as a hub for agribusiness and advanced manufacturing.

Helming said the expansion demonstrates confidence in the Finger Lakes workforce and economy, while Bailey called the project a significant boost for local families and the regional economy.

Company officials said the investment will expand Barilla’s production and distribution capabilities while continuing the company’s long-term presence in the region.
