Emergency crews from multiple agencies responded Thursday to the Auburn Rehabilitation and Nursing Center after several people were reportedly exposed to an unknown substance.
The Auburn Fire Department and Auburn City Ambulance were called to the facility at 85 Thornton Avenue, along with mutual aid ambulances from Cayuga and Onondaga counties. Officials said crews remain on scene evaluating patients, working to identify the source of the exposure, and ensuring the safety of residents and staff.
Authorities have not released information on the number of people affected or the nature of the substance involved.
The incident remains under investigation, and officials said additional information will be released as it becomes available.
Residents are being asked to avoid the area to allow emergency personnel to operate safely and efficiently.
