One Cayuga County library has unveiled a new plan to make books more available to the public.

The Springport Free Library (171 Cayuga St, Union Springs) has launched a book shed to allow anyone to purchase books that would otherwise be thrown out at a discounted rate.

Librarian Carla Jones says its a great way to get more people reading while helping the library.

Currently only open on Tuesdays, the library hopes to expand the shed’s hours to match residents’ demands.

For more information, the library can be reached at (315) 889-7766.
