Bowers Accountants & Advisors of Syracuse won the Finger Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce’s Chamber Cup Golf Tournament on May 20 at Big Oak Golf Course.
The team, comprised of Scott Gerken, Steve Kelley, Ryan Kretchmer, and Ryan Noone, finished tied with Dominguez Marketing before a tiebreaker determined by Big Oak staff secured their victory. A total of 29 teams competed in the scramble-format tournament.
Regional participation in the event reached record levels this year, with 34 businesses and organizations purchasing on-course advertising opportunities and 24 setting up vendor stations. This marked a 26 percent increase in participation compared to last year’s event.
“We wish to thank this year’s sponsors and supporters and our Annual Partners for their generosity and support in helping to make events such as these possible,” said Chamber President Miranda Odell.
Odell also recognized Event Chair Sabrina Buckley of Community Broadband FLX for her coordination efforts. “Special thanks to Sabrina Buckley of Community Broadband FLX for working many late hours on this event and going above and beyond as an honorary Chamber team member,” Odell said. “She was responsible for coordinating many of the details that go on behind the scenes that our event participants do not see, but are critical for the event to run successfully, and for that I’m extremely grateful.”
Promotional sponsors for the tournament included Beginnings Credit Union and Cayuga Nation Enterprises. Additional support came from Geneva Club Beverage, Wegmans, and Mark’s Pizzeria. The tournament serves as a major fundraiser supporting Chamber programs, member benefits, and initiatives designed to promote local businesses throughout the Finger Lakes.
