Three Seniors Net First Career Goals as Keuka Women Tops SUNY Poly

Keuka College seniors scored their first career goals Saturday as the Wolves earned their first win of the season, defeating SUNY Poly 3-1 in Empire 8 women’s soccer action.

Delaney Szostak (Marion, N.Y.), Peyton Steates (Whitesboro, N.Y.), and Karlee Reed (Victor, N.Y.) each found the back of the net for Keuka (1-7-3, 1-4-1 Empire 8). Senior goalkeeper Elianna Wilder (Victor, N.Y.) made four saves to secure the victory.

After a scoreless first half in which SUNY Poly had several early chances, including a shot off the post, Keuka broke through in the 53rd minute with Szostak’s goal. Steates added another shortly after, and Reed made it 3-0 in the 68th minute. SUNY Poly converted a late penalty kick with just under three minutes to play, but the Wolves held on for the win.

Game notes:

  • The victory extends Keuka’s unbeaten streak against SUNY Poly to five games; the Wolves now lead the all-time series 12-4-3.
  • Keuka doubled its season goal total, having entered the match with just three goals on the year.
  • Rilee Nunan (Buffalo, N.Y.) led Keuka with six shots.
  • The win marks the first career victory for Head Coach Quintin Rogers.
