It was a sea of orange on Saturday at Hobart and William Smith Colleges as the Penn Yan boys’ lacrosse team played Chenango Forks for the New York State Class D championship, as heard on WFLR. Penn Yan fell behind 6-2 in the 3rd quarter when senior Teagan Fingar took over for the Mustangs.

The game was tied at 7 entering the 4th quarter, and the Mustangs would outscore the Blue Devils 4-1 in the final 12 minutes of the lacrosse season.

Teagan Fingar finished with seven goals and two assists.  Tucker Fisher and Braden Fingar both scored two goals in the win.   Mustangs goalie Will Thompson was incredible once again in goal for Penn Yan, making more than a dozen saves in the championship win.

For head coach Brian Hobart, Saturday’s win was the first in a state championship game during his stellar 24-year career.
