Keuka’s Evan Cuba Named All-Empire 8 Selection

Keuka College Baseball outfielder Evan Cuba (Honeoye, N.Y. / Honeoye) was named Third Team All-Empire 8 Conference on Wednesday.

Cuba played a key role for the Wolves as Keuka College returned to the postseason for the first time since 2021. He batted .381 with 40 hits and tied for the team lead with 14 extra-base hits, including eight doubles, three triples, and three home runs. Cuba posted a .600 slugging percentage, tied for seventh-best in program history, while his 30 RBIs led the team. He also recorded a .477 on-base percentage, ranking among the top ten single-season marks in program history. Cuba capped off his season with two two-run home runs against Utica in the Empire 8 Tournament, becoming the first player in program history to hit two home runs in a postseason game.

Also honored on Wednesday was senior first baseman Derek Novicki (North Haven, Conn. / North Haven), who was recognized as one of nine student-athletes honored by the conference.

Novicki wrapped up his Keuka career with a career-best .393 batting average and a team-leading 46 hits. His batting average ranked among the top ten single-season marks in program history, while his .493 on-base percentage ranked fifth all-time for a season. Over his career, Novicki totaled 120 hits, 26 doubles, 74 RBIs, and 55 walks, ranking among the program leaders in each category.
