Keuka College Men Fall to SUNY Poly in Empire 8 Matchup

The Keuka College men’s soccer team came up short at home Saturday, falling 3-1 to SUNY Poly in Empire 8 Conference play at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex.

Senior Liam Davis (Wilmington, N.C.) scored his team-leading third goal of the season for the Wolves (1-11, 1-6 Empire 8), converting a penalty kick in the second half. Goalkeeper Tyler Spina (Bradford, N.Y.) made six saves in the loss.

SUNY Poly took control early, scoring in the 20th minute to grab a 1-0 halftime lead. The Wildcats added goals in the 52nd and 54th minutes to extend their advantage to 3-0. Keuka’s breakthrough came in the 72nd minute after Anthony Pontello (Syracuse, N.Y.) drew a foul in the box, setting up Davis’s successful penalty kick.

The Wolves continued to push, with Patrick Smith (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) forcing a late save, but SUNY Poly held on for the win.

  • Keuka is now 9-11-3 all-time against SUNY Poly.
  • Senior Brenden Moquin (Palmyra, N.Y.) appeared in his 50th career game for the Wolves.
  • Spina’s six saves were one shy of his career high.
  • Davis’s penalty was his second of the season, tying for the second-most in a single season in program history and the most since 2019.
