Hobart hockey captain Tanner Daniels has signed a professional contract with Dogs de Cholet of the French Division I hockey league, joining former Statesmen teammate Matthew Iasenza.

“This is great for Tanner and Cholet,” Hobart Head Coach Mark Taylor said. “Tanner has proven to be a great player on championship teams, and Cholet just won a French Championship, so it’s a perfect fit.”

Daniels becomes the fifth Hobart player in the last two years to sign professionally in France. Iasenza recently re-signed with Cholet after helping the club win the French league title this past season.

A captain for the Statesmen, Daniels earned 2026 AHCA All-America East second-team honors after recording 37 points on 16 goals and 21 assists in 31 games this season. He ranked second on the team in goals and posted 12 multi-point games, including a goal and an assist in Hobart’s NCAA quarterfinal win over St. Norbert.

Daniels finished his collegiate career as one of the most accomplished players in program history. Over four seasons, he appeared in 119 games, including Hobart’s final 69 consecutive contests, while totaling 117 career points on 49 goals and 68 assists.

A two-time AHCA All-American, Daniels leaves Hobart as the program’s all-time leader in games played, fourth in career assists, and eighth in career points.

Daniels also helped lead Hobart to three national championships, four appearances in the national title game, three NEHC championships, and one SUNYAC title. His graduating class posted a program-record 116 wins and a perfect 68-and-0 home record during their careers.
