FLCC’s Women’s Volleyball Team Wins 15th Straight

On Tuesday night, the Finger Lakes Community College women’s volleyball team commemorated their 2023 Region III title victory with a ring reveal. Later in the night, they would claim their 16th win of the season with a 3-0 sweep over the Cannoneers of SUNY Jefferson Community College. The Lakers now hold an impressive win streak of 15 games and have taken the #3 spot in the NJCAA Division III women’s volleyball rankings for this week – their highest national ranking in program history.
Freshman Anna Kurtzhaltz (Grand Island, N.Y./Grand Island) led the offensive charge, delivering a team-high 11 kills on 20 total attacks, rounding out to a stout hitting percentage of .500. Payton Stoddard (Bloomfield, N.Y./Bloomfield) continued to contribute her selfless play, as she tallied 20 total assists – marking her 11th game of the season with at least 20 assists. She was also effective in other parts of the game, bringing in 1 kill on 2 total attempts along with 6 digs.
BothJackie Neureuter (Pembroke, N.Y./Pembroke) and Michelina Williams (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) showcased all-around efforts. Neureuter chipped in 7 kills on 16 total attempts along with 4 digs and an assist, while Williams brought in 4 service aces and 4 digs apiece. Molly Goulette (Newark, N.Y./Newark) made her presence felt on defense with a team-high 7 digs.
The Lakers will seek to continue their hot streak on Saturday, October 5th, when they take on both Herkimer College and Mohawk Valley Community College in a Region III pod at Mohawk Valley Community College.
